In this Cochrane systematic review, the Cochrane Collaborative found 1 study that showed tinnitus retraining therapy is a much more effective tinnitus treatment than tinnitus masking. Tinnitus retraining therapy involves using a form of educational counseling and sound therapy. Researchers concluded that the study quality was not good enough to draw firm conclusions and that more research is needed.
