This National Institutes of Health database of tobacco control programs helps planners find evidence-based programs for different settings, population groups, and community types. Examples include:

  • A Self-Help Intervention for African American Smokers, an intervention that introduces quit-smoking strategies through a self-help guide and telephone counseling 
  • A Smoking Prevention Interactive Experience, an online multimedia program that uses 5 learning modules to prevent smoking in adolescents and help adolescents who smoke to quit 
  • Air It Out, a clinic-based intervention that promotes smoking cessation and smoking prevention in adolescents through a discussion with a pediatric provider who follows the 5As model (ask, advise, assess, assist, and arrange follow-up), plus a motivational interview and follow-up calls from a peer counselor
