The Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF) recommends mass-reach health communication interventions to reduce tobacco use, increase successful quit attempts and use of services like quitlines, and reduce new tobacco use in young people. Mass-reach health communication interventions aim to reach large audiences through TV and radio broadcasts, print media, out-of-home placements like billboards, and digital media. CPSTF looked at studies in which TV was the primary media channel. In addition, CPSTF found that mass-reach health communication interventions are cost-effective.
