Council Awards

Council Awards

The purpose of the Council Awards is to recognize individuals or organizations that have contributed to the advancement or promotion of physical activity, fitness, sports, or nutrition.  

Three award categories were open in 2024. To learn more about eligibility for each award, how to submit a nomination, and past award recipients please see the award titles below:

Community Leadership Award

The Community Leadership Award celebrates leaders who are building more vibrant and thriving communities through sports, physical activity, fitness, and nutrition-related programs.

PCSFN Hero Award

The PCSFN Hero Award celebrates high profile individuals (e.g., influencers) who champion sports, physical activity, fitness, or nutrition and amplify messages that support the Council’s mission to broad audiences. 

Lifetime Impact Award

The Lifetime Impact Award celebrates individuals whose careers have greatly contributed to the advancement or promotion of physical activity, fitness, sports, or nutrition nationwide.

  1. When are nominations open? 

The 2024 Council Awards nomination period has closed.  They were accepted from May 7 through 5:00 PM EDT on July 12, 2024.  

  1. Can I nominate myself for an award? 

Yes, individuals can nominate themselves or someone else for an award. 

  1. When will nominees be notified of their status?  

The Council will notify nominees of their status in August. Winners will receive their awards in fall 2024. 

  1. How do I submit a nomination? 

Once nominations reopen for the next awards cycle they will be accepted virtually. To nominate yourself or someone else, please see the selection criteria and specific nomination instructions on each of the following individual award pages: 

5. How many nominees will be honored with an award? 

This year, the Community Leadership Award will honor up to 20 individuals or organizations, the PCSFN Hero Award will honor up to 20 individuals, and the Lifetime Impact Award will honor up to 5 individuals. 

6. I can’t see the files I uploaded. Did my submission go through?  

Nominators are only able to see the files they submit in the current submission session. If you encounter issues in submitting, please reach out to fitness@hhs.gov 

7. I’m trying to upload a video from my phone, but it isn’t working. What can I do to submit?  

You might need to be connected to wifi for video uploads to work. If you encounter issues while on wifi, please reach out to fitness@hhs.gov
